They do not rule out reaching an agreement with Junts “in the coming days” despite having requested the extension of Congress

MADRID, 19 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The PSOE spokesperson, Esther Peña, has stated that the amnesty law that will benefit the independentists has not been one of the causes of the poor electoral result obtained by the socialists in the Galician elections held this Sunday, in which even the 9 seats, its worst result in history in this community.

The day after the votes, after the Federal Executive Commission met to analyze the results, Peña indicated that the vote took place in a regional key and has downplayed the impact that this measure, which is still being negotiated, may have had. with Junts and that marked a good part of the electoral campaign.

Despite the fact that it was the first electoral test after the Government agreed to agree on an amnesty law with the pro-independence forces and that the two formations that make up the coalition Government, PSOE and Sumar, have obtained a bad result, Ferraz maintains that the Galicians have voted territorially.

“We believe that the amnesty has not been a factor that has defined the electoral results, neither for the PSOE nor for the PP, after the alleged mistake when he revealed to 16 journalists that the amnesty was thought, which was favorable to the pardons and that terrorism no longer existed in the process” indicated the socialist spokesperson in a press conference in Ferraz.

In this sense, he has pointed out that the transfer of votes from the PSOE has gone to the BNG, “a party that clearly supports the amnesty” and that is a sovereigntist and therefore considers that this argument “has some cracks.”

On the other hand, regarding the status of the negotiation of the amnesty law with Junts, he has indicated that the extension requested from Congress, which extends the deadline to reach an agreement until March 6, “does not mean that we are not going to reach to an agreement shortly, in the coming days,” he noted.

“For us it would be desirable, this extension simply indicates that we are not giving up the time that the regulations offer us to continue talking and continue negotiating,” he added.
