Fernández affirms that the Government of Buenos Aires is not part of the agreement signed with the State on co-participation
MADRID, 1 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Argentine president, Alberto Fernández, has harshly charged this Wednesday in Congress against the Supreme Court in the framework of the impeachment of its members and has demanded that Justice judge those responsible for the assassination attempt on the vice president, Cristina Fernández of Kirchner.
Upon his arrival in Congress, the Argentine president greeted Kirchner with a brief and formal greeting and during his presidential speech asked the Justice to try those responsible, both material and intellectual, for the attempted murder.
Fernández has described the event as “one of the most unfortunate moments” in the country in the last 40 years. “I ask the Justice to try and condemn those who were the material and intellectual authors of this attempted murder,” he added, according to the newspaper ‘Clarín’.
During the long speech, as planned, Fernández made reference to his dispute with the country’s Supreme Court in relation to the ruling on the resources allocated to the Government of Buenos Aires, led by the already presidential candidate Horacio Rodríguez Larreta.
The head of the Government of Buenos Aires, from the Republican Proposal (PRO) party, has maintained a pulse in recent months with the central government of Fernández as a result of the budget cut in the capital, a measure that he considered “unconstitutional”.
Faced with this legal dispute, Fernández has assured that the “interference” of Justice in budget execution is “inadmissible”, since it “exceeds its powers”. Likewise, he has indicated during his speech that Buenos Aires “is not part of the agreement” signed by the provinces and the State.
In this sense, the Argentine president has indicated that these co-participating resources take money “from those who need it the most” and allocate these amounts “to the most opulent city in the country”, as reported by the newspaper ‘La Nación’.
His words have caused several senators to leave the room, such as the member of Together for Change, Senator Martín Lousteau, who has assured on his Twitter profile that the president “lies.” “You cannot say that the City of Buenos Aires is not part of the co-participation agreement”, he has indicated.
On the other hand, Fernández has also spoken harshly about the impeachment trial against the head of the Supreme Court of Justice, Horacio Rosatti, whom he accuses of being behind a shadow plot as part of a trip made by judges, prosecutors, media officials and businessmen to Lago Escondido.
Said plot would be led by personalities at the service of the political interests of opposition leaders such as former President Mauricio Macri. Fernández frames within this alleged persecution the recent sentence against the Argentine vice president for corruption.
“There is no attack or attack against the Justice. It is requested that the performance of the magistrates that make up the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation be reviewed with all the guarantees and in the corresponding instances. I do not intend to disqualify the Power in its entirety Judicial for the conduct of some of its members”, has defended.
Likewise, Fernández has assured that the judicial leadership “has been a long time” that ceased to have “public trust.” “It does not work effectively and it does not show itself with the required independence in the face of factual and political powers,” he argued.
In this sense, he recalled that in 2020 he proposed alternatives to reform the judicial system. “If that justice reform had prospered and if the Supreme Court had not taken the Judicial Council by assault, today Santa Fe would not be suffering from the lack of courts that prevent the rapid prosecution of organized crime that has expanded in its territory” , has settled.
