Likewise, Austin has indicated that the attacks by armed groups have been “mostly unsuccessful” and recalled that a contractor died in a cardiac incident while taking shelter and 21 other workers suffered minor injuries.
“The president (Joe Biden) has no higher priority than the safety of American personnel, and has directed today’s action to make clear that the United States will not tolerate such attacks and will defend itself, its personnel and its interests,” has settled.
The Islamic Resistance of Iraq, a coalition of Iraqi militias backed by Iran, has claimed responsibility in recent hours for two new attacks against two military bases, one of them in northeastern Syria and the second in northern Iraq.

Washington, which has deployed 900 military personnel to the Middle East due to the security situation in the region, has recently singled out Iran, alleging that it “actively facilitates” these attacks, claimed by militias backed by Tehran that claim to be acting in response to Israel’s bombings. against the Gaza Strip after the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
