kyiv assures that Moscow is trying to take over the city ahead of February 24
The pro-Russian forces of the Donetsk region have highlighted this Thursday new significant advances around the city of Bakhmut, which is mired in clashes between Russian and Ukrainian forces, and have assured that Kiev troops lack the necessary capacity to get the supplies to the military still in the area.
Thus, they have indicated that the higher altitude areas near Bakhmut are already under their control, which means that the Ukrainian forces are “severely limited” when it comes to operating and delivering reserve supplies.
The adviser to the Donetsk governor, Igor Kimakovski, has indicated that “of course, success in Bakhmut is getting closer.” “Our boys are ready, they have already taken over the main mounds,” he explained, according to information from the TASS news agency.
In this sense, he pointed out that the Ukrainian forces only have a “small corridor”, which significantly complicates the delivery of weapons and ammunition. In addition, he has warned of the deployment of “foreign mercenaries from United States satellite countries” around Bakhmut. “There are Poles, French, English, everything,” he added.
On Tuesday, the governor of the area, Denis Pushilin, pointed out that the fighting is already taking place on the outskirts of the city, directly in areas that until recently were in the hands of the Ukrainians.
For his part, the head of the National Security Council of Ukraine, Oleksi Danilov, has warned that Russia plans to take over the town for the anniversary of the start of the war, on February 24.
In an interview with the British BBC television channel, Danilov has indicated that Russia is preparing a “big offensive” against the territory and has explained that numerous troops and weapons have been concentrated in the territory of Donetsk, although he has said he is sure that Ukraine will ultimately prevail.
“We have to fight back, no matter how difficult it seems or how difficult it is for us. It is not,” he stated before recalling that Russia had already promised to be present in the city for President Vladimir Putin’s birthday, which was on October 7, something they “didn’t get”.
Danilov thus stressed that “the country lives based on anniversaries and significant dates.” “It is a necrophilous country; for them a person is worth nothing if she is alive. And when he dies, that is when he is respected,” he continued.
“Putin is destroying Russia. He hasn’t realized it yet, but he is doing it. He wanted to build a new empire and he is destroying it,” he said.
