MADRID, 2 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Activists for Human Rights and union activists have called this Wednesday for the “democratization of the judicial system in Argentina”, repudiating “the proscription” of the country’s vice president, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

The protesters -in front of the Buenos Aires Courthouse- have also demanded progress in the case investigating the assassination attempt against Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, which “advances at a snail’s pace” because “they don’t want it to be known who was behind the attack”, as reported by the Télam news agency.

“We are filled with great satisfaction and great pride, for this unity with mobilizations and acts, to demand the democratization of the judicial system and put an end to these 4 supreme groups of (in)justice,” said Hugo Godoy, head of the Central de the Autonomous Argentine Workers (CTAA) and the State Workers Association (ATE).

“We were here a year ago and at that time we were saying the removal and impeachment of the court judges. Today the impeachment is a reality,” said the general secretary of the CTA and deputy of the Frente de Todos (FdT), Hugo Yasky.

He has also denounced the scandal of the alleged chats between Macrista officials, media entrepreneurs and judges where “the rot of Lago Escondido” came to light, alluding to a trip where allegedly judges, politicians and communication businessmen forged a common defense strategy of former President Mauricio Macri, one day after the conviction against Vice President Cristina Fernández.

Judge Juan María Ramos Padilla, one of the promoters of the march, has urged that “judges begin to behave like workers and attend to their people”, asking for “political sovereignty, economic independence and social justice” and calling to recover “justice for Argentines” from “a deep judicial reform”.

Meanwhile, Godoy has indicated that the TS “is at the service of the interests of privilege” and has recalled that when “the impeachment trial was launched, the first to come out to say that they disagree were the 500 big businessmen.”

“We are here to repudiate and shout very loudly, enough of the judicial mafia! Enough with this disastrous judicial party. And we have to support with all our might this political trial that is being carried out against the Supreme Court,” said Taty Almeida, which belongs to the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo Founding Line.

The national deputy Juan Marino (FdT) has maintained that this act “has to be the beginning of a great mobilization campaign throughout the country”, while he has asked “to end with a great mobilization on March 24 to say enough to the judicial mafia and in defense of democracy”.

The Argentine authorities, such as the Minister of the Interior, Eduardo de Pedro, have criticized on numerous occasions the “deterioration” of the Judiciary due to its alleged collusion with former President Mauricio Macri.

“We have a diagnosis that has to do with a state of deterioration of the Judiciary. We have been warning about it since Macri’s famous decree that appointed two judges of the Court in commission. We are concerned about the state of a sector of Justice, “he said. in December the minister.

In fact, the Argentine president, Alberto Fernández, has initiated a parliamentary procedure to dismiss the Supreme Court for “poor performance of its functions” and “bias”.

The president justified this unusual step by appealing to his own duty — “on assuming my mandate I swore to observe and enforce the Constitution as far as it depended on me” -, for which he hopes “to prevent further manipulation of the Council of the Magistracy with unusual jurisprudential interpretations that allow the Judiciary to meddle in the decisions of the National Congress”.

Fernández and his number two, Vice President Cristina Fernández, have spared no criticism in recent months against the judicial leadership, which they consider to serve the political interests of opposition leaders such as Mauricio Macri. Both frame within this alleged persecution the recent sentence against the vice president for corruption.
