BILBAO, 7 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The PNV parliamentarian Irune Berasaluze has called for the end of the prison exception that applies to ETA prisoners, although she has announced that the jeltzale formation will not attend the demonstration organized by Sare for this Saturday.
Berasaluze attended this morning the round table organized at the Euskalduna Palace by the citizen network under the title ‘Advancing towards coexistence’ in which victims of ETA, GAL and torture took part.
In statements to the media prior to the meeting, Berasaluze has assured that, as happened last year, the jeltzale formation will not attend the demonstration that will take place this afternoon in the Biscayan capital.
However, he has warned that this does not prevent him from claiming the repeal of “the exceptional prison that applies to ETA prisoners.” Likewise, he has valued the approaches to Basque and Navarrese prisons in recent months as being “very positive for the re-socialization of inmates.”
“Since the Basque Government has the powers in penitentiary matters, one only has to see how many third degrees have been granted in recent months, although after appeals from the Prosecutor’s Office there have been regressions,” he added.
Finally, he has defended that the resocialization of the inmates of the band “will also help them to make a critical review of their past.”
