BRUSELAS, 15 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, has defended this Monday that she can be against a “political decision” such as the reform of the crime of sedition, but has indicated that the constitutional order is protected in Spain and will not be affected by this change in the criminal code.

“The sedition reform is a political decision and you may or may not agree with it, it is legitimate that there are people who do not agree with it. In all force, those who oppose the reform do so with reasons that they do not correspond to reality,” said the Minister of Defense before the meeting of European ministers of the branch in Brussels.

In this sense, Robles has declared that the constitutional order in Spain is “shielding”, since the Magna Carta is “perfectly protected” despite the reform of this crime that can benefit the independence leaders responsible for the procés in Catalonia.

“Crimes against the Constitution are not touched and are fully protected. A crime such as rebellion is maintained. The arguments that are given cannot be accepted, the constitutional order is fully protected”, reiterated the minister, a member of the General Council of the Judiciary until 2013, to insist that the crime of sedition has to do with maintaining public order and not with attacks on the Constitution.

The bill of the PSOE and United We Can to eliminate the crime of sedition has started its journey in Congress this Monday, when it was qualified by the Chamber Table – a decision that the PP and Vox have opposed – and could pass its first exam next week in a new plenary session planned by the two groups that make up the coalition government.
