MADRID, 26 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The ERC spokesman in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, has avoided ruling on the reform of the crime of sedition this Wednesday and in any case has recommended to the PSOE that it “talk less” about the negotiations around the General State Budgets for 2023.

Rufián has made this suggestion to the majority group of the Government upon his arrival at Congress, where this Wednesday the debate of all the public accounts for the following year begins.

Asked about the status of his talks with the Executive, the pro-independence deputy stressed that his formation is “committed to advancing the social agenda and resolving the conflict.” “And I dare to suggest to the PSOE that it speak less”, he has slipped.

When specifically questioned about whether there is progress in the “dejudicialization” of this conflict through reforms of the Penal Code, he has stressed that in ERC they try to “be discreet people” and that they want “things to work out”.

“And that is often incompatible with telegraphing negotiations that are real or not,” he warned before asking the PSOE “humbly” for the second time to “talk less.”

And relying on that same argument, he has avoided answering the specific question of whether the reform of the crime of sedition is a ‘sine qua non’ condition for ERC to give its support to the Budgets.

“We want things to go well, we are silent people, the important thing in the Budgets is to improve the social agenda, the day-to-day life of the people”, he has limited himself to answering.
