He admits that it is a negotiation of the PSOE with the Basque group to arouse his support for this norm
MADRID, 26 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The spokesman for United We Can in Congress, Pablo Echenique, deduces that the amendment to the Sports Law that the PNV has managed to approve and that allows, for the first time, the direct participation of regional sports federations in international competitions will not affect majority sports .
“I think that it is effectively sports with cultural roots in certain territories, not majority sports. I think it refers to this, but I am not an expert on this point of the law,” he transferred in an interview on Radio Marca, which has collected Europa Press.
Asked specifically about whether it will be possible to have a Basque soccer team, Echenique has assured that he does not know this detail.
In any case, the leader of United We Can has asserted that the green light for this amendment “has to do with a negotiation between the PSOE and the PNV to arouse the support of the six PNV seats for this law.”
At the moment, the two federations that see the path to official status clear are those of surfing and Basque pelota, according to what the president of the EBB of the PNV, Andoni Ortuzar, reported late yesterday.
“The new Sports Law places Basque sport before a new scenario. In a very special way, two federations, which are the Basque pelota federation and the surf federation, since both fulfill without any doubt the requirements contemplated in the aforementioned article 44”, celebrated Ortuzar.
And it is that article 44 of the Sports Law states in its new point 2 the following: “However, the regional sports federations may participate directly in the international arena if the corresponding international Federation contemplates their participation in the case of modalities or specialties sports with historical and social roots in their respective autonomous community or in the event that the autonomous Federation had formed part of an international Federation before the constitution of the corresponding Spanish Federation”.
