MADRID, 19 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea has denounced this Wednesday that Pyongyang has fired more than 100 artillery shells in the so-called “buffer zone”, designed to reduce tensions between the two nations.

These launches are added to the launch of another hundred projectiles late Tuesday into the Yellow Sea and, hours later, another 150 into the Sea of Japan. The previous week, Seoul also reported dozens of shots fired into both seas surrounding the Korean peninsula, as well as the launch of a short-range ballistic missile and a series of flyovers by fighter jets over territory near the border.

In reaction, the South Korean military authorities denounced what had happened, considering it “a clear violation” of the military agreements signed with their neighbor to the north, with which they urged Pyongyang to “immediately stop” this type of “provocations” that they do more than “undermine peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and the international community.”

Hours earlier, the North Korean Army assured that the launch of a series of projectiles against the border with South Korea is a “serious warning” due to the military exercises that Seoul is carrying out.

“The situation on the Korean peninsula is worsening due to repeated military provocations by enemies in the so-called buffer zone,” a Pyongyang Army spokesman said in a statement reported by the North Korean state agency KCNA.

Likewise, he asked the Yoon Suk Seol Administration to immediately stop the “reckless and inciting provocations that increase military tension in the area”, since it would have taken note of “the especially provocative movements” that are developing “in a frantic way”. added the spokesman.
