MADRID, 18 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The spokesman for United We Can in Congress, Pablo Echenique, has supported the reform of the crime of sedition in this legislature and also considers the demands that the ERC poses acceptable for the negotiation of the General State Budgets (PGE) for the the next year.

At a press conference in the Lower House, he pointed out that the confederal space is in favor of modifying this criminal type and has claimed that they were the first to raise it, to adapt this crime to “European standards”.

However, Echenique has pointed out that he is not aware that the Republicans propose this reform in the framework of the budget negotiation, although it is well known that it is an “important” issue for them” and they want to “carry it forward”, like United We Can.

Regarding the processing of the project of new public accounts, the leader of the purple formation has trusted in being able to gather the support of the progressive bloc in Congress and, at this point, has appreciated that ERC is not making “maximum approach” to decide your vote in favour. Therefore, he has opined that the Government could accept those demands that ERC has pointed out to date.

However, he has stressed that he is unaware of the requests of other parliamentary partners, such as the PNV, and that it is necessary to dialogue with the parliamentary allies of the Executive to reissue the majority of investiture around the Budgets, especially when for now none of the usual allies has announced an amendment to the whole.

Regarding the position of the president of the Independent Authority for Fiscal Responsibility (AIReF), Cristina Herrero, who has lamented the “information quality deficiencies” of the General Budget project, Echenique has replied that the body has to “clarify” why gave its “formal endorsement” to the new public accounts.

And it is that Echenique has defended that it is the third “expansive” Budgets of the legislature, which bury the “neoliberal recipe” in the face of crises with measures to protect citizens and that they must come out with the widest possible progressive majority.

Of course, the spokesman for the confederal group has stressed that in terms of public policies there remains a “deficit” in housing, where he appreciates the absence of measures in contrast to the initiatives to alleviate the electricity bill or public transport.

Therefore, Echenique has urged the PSOE to approve “as soon as possible” the new Housing Law with the improvements that have been proposed in Congress. He has also summoned his partner to negotiate the amendments to the bill of the anti-crisis decree to stop the rise in mortgages and give the option of extending rental contracts for at least six months to freeze rental income for tenants .

Also in terms of the Housing Law, he has stressed that they have common approaches with parliamentary allies, but they do not know to what extent these groups will go when it comes to demanding within the PGE the unblocking of this regulation.
