MADRID, 5 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The First Vice President and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, has reproached the Popular Party for insisting on proclaiming “inside and outside” Spain that the country is on the verge of bankruptcy and is headed for ruin. “It’s very unpatriotic and responsible,” she has criticized her.
“The PP has been saying for 4 years and three months that Spain is on the verge of bankruptcy and that it is headed for ruin. It is difficult to understand why a party that has had the responsibility of government says something like that about its country inside and outside our borders”, lamented the first vice-president during the control session of the Government in the Congress of Deputies.
The first vice-president has responded in the Lower House to the PP deputy, Carlos Rojas, who has assured that the current Executive “is leading Spain to ruin” and has indicated that the Government does not generate trust among citizens. “Your government is a dream for you, but it is a nightmare for all Spaniards,” criticized the popular deputy.
Faced with this, the first vice president has stressed that the Spanish economy so far in 2022 is growing “strongly” and is even doing so more than expected. In this regard, she recalled that the forecast for this year is 4.4%, above the 4.1% previously estimated, a “cautious” forecast, according to Calviño, which comes after the GDP has grown by 5.5% in 2021.
Looking ahead to next year, the Government’s forecast is for the economy to grow by 2.1%. “This means that the Spanish economy is enormously strong and is holding up well in the face of a tremendously complex international context”, highlighted the Government’s financial officer.
Given the current moment of uncertainty, the vice president took the opportunity to urge the PP to stop making so many proposals every day and start acting responsibly, patriotically supporting the government and defending the country’s interests.
And it is that Calviño has criticized the “destructive work” of the PP, with his vote against regulations such as the labor reform and with his “boycott” of the Recovery Plan. “The only thing that consoles me is that you really don’t have any effectiveness when you try to boycott and damage the image of our country inside and outside our borders”, he has reproached them.
