MADRID, 3 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Rayo Vallecano aggravated Elche’s poor start to the 2022-2023 LaLiga Santander season by defeating them 2-1 this Monday, thanks to a great goal by Unai López in the 95th minute, in the match that closed the seventh day of the championship.

The red-and-red team had to wait for the final stages to seal their second consecutive victory in Vallecas and put some distance, with ten points, on a descent in which the man from Elche is still mired, who still continues without knowing the victory and remains bottom with just one point.

It was a fast-paced game, especially at the beginning and in the final minutes, moments in which Andoni Iraola’s men had more momentum, although they only achieved a real prize with Unai López’s volley from outside the area against which Edgar could do nothing Badia.

Earlier, despite their good start to the match, Rayo couldn’t do any harm and little by little Elche managed to calm down the game. In addition, an error in a Dimitrievski exit allowed Lucas Boyé to score his first goal of the campaign and put the visitors ahead. A joy that didn’t last long because before the break Sergio Camello leveled, receiving a precise backheel from Óscar Trejo to shoot from the edge, fortunately Fede Fernández deflected it just enough to leave Badía without options.

After the break, the team from Alicante started somewhat better and seemed to be in control, with a good chance from Raúl Guti. Iraola reacted with the changes and gave him a final intensity that ended up cornering Francisco’s men, sanctioned and who watched the clash from a box.

Isi Palazón gave two warnings from outside the area and Álvaro García had a very clear one after a great pass from Trejo. Pathe Ciss also had a good option and Elche also wasted a great opportunity when Tete Morente, after a mistake by Catena, did not know how to define in the best way, a mistake that his team paid dearly for the great shot by Unai López.
