He says that the dismissal of Santiago (IU) was agreed and affirms that the party is subject to judicial persecution
MADRID, 7 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The secretary of Institutional Action of Podemos, María Teresa Pérez, has insisted that the new ‘Sumar’ platform promoted by the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, is a “fundamental electoral ally”. She has also highlighted that her formation will be present with “strong candidacies” in the next regional and municipal elections, whether or not the broad fronts bear fruit
In an interview with Europa Press, the leader of Podemos has defended that her party has been the “most important engine of political transformation” in recent years and that the next electoral cycle must “consolidate” the progressive governments.
For that goal they are convinced that Díaz is the “best candidate” and the one who can bring together a “very broad” space around her, with which to aspire to be a “majority” force in case the coalition government is reissued.
“I think that Yolanda Díaz is the candidate who can bring together different political positions,” he explained. Of course, she has specified that the negotiation of how a candidacy would be formed under her leadership has not yet been entered into.
Pérez has also proclaimed that Podemos is going to work to “build broad candidacies”, strengthen his party and contribute “the best” of his organization to that future broad progressive space.
On the other hand, he has affirmed that relations with IU are correct after the relief of Enrique Santiago as Secretary of State for the 2030 Agenda, since he separates him from internal issues by framing him exclusively to an “agreed restructuring” in the Ministry of Social Rights, which seeks to promote a “feminist and environmentalist” vision facing the end of the legislature.
Thus, he explained that the Ione Belarra department believes that the profile of the ‘number three’ of Podemos, Lilith Verstrynge, adapts more and will do a “magnificent job” just like Santiago did, which continues to be an “important asset” for United We Can and which will take advantage of its political capacity in Congress.
On the options of achieving a broad front with Más País or Compromís, the also director of Injuve has said that she cannot speak for other political formations and that they will be the ones who make their decisions through their corresponding management bodies.
Regarding the role that the parties should have in a candidacy led by Díaz and how the quotas would be distributed, Pérez has warned that they would be mistaken if they dedicate themselves to constantly talking about the “internal life” of Podemos, given that it is something that “wears them out” and that “distances” citizens from their political proposals.
And in his opinion, the error in the case of the poor results of the candidacy of Podemos, IU and Más Madrid in Andalusia (For Andalusia) was “perhaps talking too much about ourselves and not focusing on political proposals.”
In order to emulate broad fronts in the regional elections with other left-wing forces, such as in Madrid, Aragón or Valencia, and given that Díaz’s platform will not be ready in these elections, the leader of the purple formation has pointed out that these options will be they will have to assess when the elections are called, but they are “willing to talk to everyone who shares their political objectives.” “No problem with anyone who wants to contribute that vision and that way of doing politics,” she emphasized.
Meanwhile, he has detailed that Podemos is already working to “strengthen” itself in the communities and pursues “strong candidacies” that include personalities from civil society, and it is up to the regional directorates to assess how they are articulated.
“Podemos is an organization that has been preparing for a long time and the other forces will assess in each case (…) But in any case, Podemos will have representation and will have candidates with civil society integrated and prepared for that political cycle of 2023,” he deepened.
On the other hand, Pérez has predicted that the ‘Neurona’ case will be filed as “each and every one of the legal cases that they open to Podemos”, since “they have nothing behind” more than a “political motivation and persecution” .
However, he has attacked the “discredit” generated by these accusations based “clearly on lies” from the “modus operandi” of the “sewers of the State”, which not only harms Podemos but is a “serious damage to the democracies”. “Who is going to repair this damage?” she has wondered.
Regarding the decision of the judge of the National High Court Manuel García Castellón to open an investigation into the co-founder of the formation Juan Carlos Monedero for an alleged crime of money laundering, the co-spokesperson of the party alluded to again and in a generic way that the “sewers of the State” have tried to overthrow legitimate and democratic formations. “Perhaps there are some judges who believe they are untouchable and who are above the rest of the citizenry and it is not like that”, he has riveted.
