The European national leagues have already come to an end. In this last season only 19 of the 35 teams that defended the title of the main UEFA leagues were able to maintain their throne, a merit that only Manchester City and Bayern have achieved in the five major leagues, while in leagues such as the Spanish or the Italian championship has changed the club, but not the city. We review who has been crowned in 2021-2022.
1. Spain: Real Madrid. The white team managed to win its second title in three years, recovering the throne occupied by Atlético de Madrid, who it left 15 points behind.
2. England: Manchester City. Guardiola’s men won their second consecutive Premier League, although not without suffering, on a final day where they had to come back from a game they were losing 0-2 to beat Liverpool by one point.
3. Italy: Milan. As in Spain, the title stayed in the same city but changed sides. The ‘rossoneri’ beat Inter and ended up winning their first league championship in eleven years with a two-point advantage over their neighbours.
4. Germany: FC Bayern. The Bavarians again did not give their rivals an option and won their tenth consecutive win, in which they took a comfortable advantage over Borussia Dortmund.
5. France: Paris Saint-Germain. PSG regrouped after losing the league last year to Lille, who finished 10th on 31 points.
6. Portugal: FC Porto. After the historic championship achieved by Sporting de Portugal in 2021, the ‘dragons’ won their thirtieth title in a fierce fight against the current champions.
7. Netherlands: Ajax. Those from Amsterdam won again what is their third title in four years, which could have been four if not for the pandemic.
8. Austria: Red Bull Salzburg. The Red Bull team won its ninth consecutive title, maintaining its hegemony in Austria.
9. Scotland: Celtic. In a new duel for the championship between the two big teams from Glasgow, Celtic were able to recover the title that Rangers won last season, who this year have had to combine the tough fight for the league with the Europa League, of which was a finalist.
10. Russia: Zenit. The St. Petersburg team managed to win its fourth consecutive title, although it will not enjoy the Champions League next year as it has been the country excluded from all European competitions.
11. Serbia: Red Star. The rojiblancos once again prevailed in the fight for the championship against Partizan in the great rivalry of the Balkan country. There are already five consecutive championships for them.
12. Ukraine: The title was vacated after the invasion of Russia, when the league was stopped. The last champion was Dinamo kyiv, who at the time of the suspension were two points behind Shakhtar.
13. Belgium: Club Bruges. Fourth title in five years for the team from Bruges, who beat the surprising newly promoted Union Saint-Gilloise, leader until the last stage, in the final phase to defend their throne.
14. Switzerland: FC Zurich. After a narrow escape last season, they have been one of the revelation teams in all of Europe, winning the title with solvency and even leading the second-placed team by 14 points.
15. Greece: Olympiacos. The Greeks once again saw how the team from Piraeus became champions for the third consecutive year.
16. Czech Republic: Viktoria Plzen. The Czech team snatched the title from defending champions Slavia Prague.
17. Norway: Bodo Glimt. one of the revelations of the Conference League won his second consecutive title.
18. Denmark: Copenhagen. The people of the capital unseated Brondby.
19. Croatia: Dinamo Zagreb. Fifth consecutive championship for them.
20. Turkey: Trabzonspor. One of Europe’s great surprises, the team from Trabzon were crowned champions for the first time since 1984.
21. Cyprus: Apollon Limassol. Omonia Nicosia could not defend title.
22. Israel: Maccabi Haifa. Repeat title.
23. Sweden: Malmo. Repeat title.
24. Bulgaria: Ludogorets. Repeat title.
25. Romania: Cluj. Repeat title.
26. Azerbaijan: Qarabag. The champion took the throne from Neftçi.
27. Hungary: Ferencvaros. Repeat title.
28. Poland: Lech Pozna?. Legia Warsaw could not defend their crown.
29. Kazakhstan: FC Tobol. He achieved the second title in history, relieving Kairat Almaty in the record.
30. Slovakia: Slovan Bratislava. Title title.
31. Slovenia: Maribor. He returned to conquer the Slovenian league three years later and took the throne from NS Mura.
32. Belarus: Shaktyor Soligorsk. Repeat title.
33. Moldova: Sheriff Tiraspol. Repeat title.
34. Lithuania: FK Zalgiris. Repeat title.
35. Bosnia: Zrinjski. The Mostar club won its seventh league title and took over from Borac Banja Luka.
