MADRID, 29 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The United States Department of Justice announced this Sunday a review of the response of local and federal police authorities to the massacre last Tuesday in Uvalde, Texas, in which a man killed 19 students and two teachers from a school.

A spokesman for the Department, Anthony Coley, explained that the mayor of Uvalde, Don McLaughlin, has requested a Critical Incident Review from the federal agency that will be assumed by the Department’s Community Oriented Policing Office, reports the newspaper ‘The Hill ‘.

“The purpose of this review is to have an independent version of the action and response of the security forces on that day and to identify the lessons learned and improve the practices so that those who respond to these situations are prepared for incidents with active shooters”, has explained Coley.

“This evaluation will be fair, transparent and independent, as in previous reviews of shootings by the Department of Justice (…). The Department of Justice will publish a report of the results once this review is concluded,” he added.

Last Tuesday, Salvador Ramos, just turned 18, shot his grandmother — who is in serious condition — broke into the Robb school in Uvalde, Texas, and executed 19 children and two teachers. Another 17 people were injured, although most were released. Family members and local authorities have questioned the delay in the intervention of the Police.
