MADRID, 22 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (Alpine) will start from the back of the grid this Sunday at the Spanish Grand Prix, the sixth round of the Formula 1 World Championship and held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, after changing the engine of his car.
On Saturday, the Asturian signed a qualifying session to forget from which he said goodbye at the first change, in Q1, after a misunderstanding with his engineer that made him leave the track too late.
In his attempt to improve his time, the Spaniard ran into too much traffic with just the right amount of time and was unable to get through Q1, which condemned him to seventeenth place, the worst starting position in Montmeló since his first season at Minardi.
