The president of the United States, Joe Biden, has affirmed that monkeypox “is something that everyone should worry about”, although for now only one case has been confirmed in the North American country.
Biden has explained to journalists in South Korea that he is already discussing with his advisers the potential spread of the disease and that, among the aspects that still need to be clarified, is the degree of transmission of the virus.
“We are working to see what we can do and what vaccine could be used,” said the US president before boarding Air Force One for Japan, the second stop on his Asian tour.
The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are investigating several suspected cases, although so far only one has been confirmed in Massachusetts, corresponding to a person who had traveled to Canada.
