MADRID, 22 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The authorities of the Chinese city of Shanghai will return to the system of restrictions by neighborhoods, in such a way that the strictest confinements are again limited to those areas with a greater number of cases of COVID-19 and are not indiscriminate measures.

This was announced this Sunday by a Shanghai health official, Zhao Dandan, who confirmed that, as of May 31, the neighborhoods will be classified as high, medium or low risk.

Areas without confirmed cases in the last 14 days will be considered low risk, while the authorities will maintain the greatest surveillance measures in those districts with more than ten positives or two local infections.

In these last ‘restricted areas’, as well as in those ‘controlled areas’ -medium risk-, residents must remain in their homes and undergo a daily test for two weeks, according to the Bloomberg news agency.

Infections continue to drop and this Sunday 662 local cases have been confirmed, below the 868 announced on Saturday. All these new positives correspond to people who are in official isolation facilities.

Local authorities expect life to return practically to normal in Shanghai in the second half of June and this Sunday four subway lines have been reopened, in an attempt to gradually recover activity in public transport.
