The Afpa has updated its catalog of training, after having passed the sieve of the new challenges of the energy transition. Its president, Yves Barrou, requires the companies to evolve the skills of their employees.
“A job is bound to be very significantly impacted by the energy transition”. Yves Barou has been seen in practice. The national Association for adult vocational training (Afpa) that he chairs and organises the collective work of updating professional qualifications for the account of the ministry of Labour. She has also worked to overhaul its own training catalogue, to adapt it to new requirements of societal (environmental and digital).
The man at the head of the public body notes, however, that all of the companies are not aware of the need to evolve the skills of their employees. A certain “looseness” can be seen by example in the area of the building. “This is not because the economy is not at the top it is necessary to reduce its efforts in terms of training, alert-t-it. Not to train its employees in the post is a serious error.” It is true, it can be difficult for a company of three or four employees, happen to one of them for six months or more. Aware of this problem, the Afpa has also divided, in part, its offer short modules. It offers a fifty today.
priority areas
The building sector is part of the domains assessed by the Afpa as a priority in terms of training. The market for building renovation, the only one destined to be really dynamic in the coming years, in contrast to the new construction, will require teams to the point on everything that touches the insulation or the heating system, in particular. Other trades in front of called to be “green”, energy. The Apma has also just signed an agreement with the Normandy region for the creation of a City of the training to Cherbourg, where we can, for example, be trained in the profession of stratifieur or technician in the field of wind turbines. Among the sectors where the need for specific competencies will strongly increase, there is also the one of transport (networks of recharging electric cars, but also solutions that are less polluting for the aviation industry), the economy of recycling (waste sorting), or green chemistry (biofuels). The factory of the future will require also skills renewed.

The adaptation of its technical facilities so that they correspond to the new training will represent a sizeable investment for the Afpa, already in a fragile financial situation : at least fifty million euros per year. “A pedagogy which is based on updates in a professional situation to be more expensive than the powerpoint,” sums up Christophe Sadok, director of engineering of the Afpa.

Find the right timing
another difficulty for the historical actor – and for all the training organizations for that matter – is to adopt the timing correct in the renewal of his catalogue. “For our training programs around 3D printers, the orders do not arrive,” says Yves Barou. Be in advance, it is well for a prosperous business, but for the Afpa, not really”. The president of the Afpa hopes that the announcement of the plan to 150 000 (priority training for unemployed workers) will be followed, and that the employment centre will play its full role in the purchase of training, in a great national impetus.
