telework is not for the happiness of all. Three teleworkers confined in ten feel that their psychological health (30%) and physical health (27%) are degraded during the confinement, according to a CSA survey for Malakoff Humanis published on Wednesday.
A similar proportion of these teleworkers deplore an increase in mental workload (28%), “living in tension with their family” (28%) and consider that the containment has deteriorated the quality of their sleep (29%) and power (26%), according to this survey conducted among employees of private sector companies with 10 or more employees.

Four-in-ten “have trouble articulating time of professional and personal life” (39%) or “to log out of the work” (45%). They also feel “a degradation of the quality of the social bond” (39%) with their colleagues and their manager, “difficult to maintain” in spite of the digital tools.
For three of the interviewees out of ten, the “particular context of telework forced” caused by the Covid-19 has “a negative impact” on their workload (33%) and motivation (30%).
The difficult conciliation of teleworking with children at home
“half” of the teleworkers confined “is experimenting with this form of work for the first time”. Those who had already adopted are now less happy : their “satisfaction rating” has decreased from 9/10 in 2019 to 8.3/10 during the confinement.
Among the teleworkers with children, nearly half are experiencing “difficulties in securing work remotely while caring for their children” (47%), according to the survey, the first of a series of three surveys planned by the end of may by Malakoff Humanis.

Overall, teleworkers confined are concerned : 86% have fears for the economic future of the country,” 49% “to their own future,” and 42% “to their business”. A third of them think that this ” health crisis “is going to change the position of their organization vis-à-vis telework” (35%, against 16% after the strikes of last December and January that contributed to a lesser extent the use of teleworking).
Nearly six new teleworkers in ten are already considering “asking the practice of telework after the containment on a regular or one-off”.

The survey was conducted from 15 to 20 April, on the internet, with a representative sample of 1010 employees of private sector companies with 10 or more employees.
