Navarra, the only region that has reduced its debt in the last decade

Andalusia, Murcia and the Valencian Community are the three autonomous communities that have increased their percentage of debt with respect to GDP the most since 2013, ten years ago, while Navarra is the only region that has reduced it, according to the latest data published by the Bank of Spain.
Andalusia is the autonomous community whose debt with respect to GDP has increased the most in ten years, since if in 2013 its indebtedness was 18 percent, in the last quarter of 2022 it was 21.4 percent, an increase of 18.4 points. In euros, Andalusia had a debt of 21,441 million in 2013, while in 2022 it was 37,870 million.
In second place is the Region of Murcia, which has seen its debt increase since 2013 by 14.7 percent. Ten years ago it owed what was then 20.9 percent of its GDP (5,543 million euros), while in the last quarter of last year the debt figure was 32.2 percent (11,395 million euros ).
The Valencian Community, in third place, has increased its debt in ten years by 12.8 points. If in 2013 it owed 32,459 million euros (34.4 percent compared to its GDP at that time), at the end of 2022 the region had a debt of 55,032 million (44.4 percent).
Extremadura is the fourth region with the highest increase in debt (8.9 points), placing itself in 2022 with 21.4 percent of its total GDP; Aragón is in fifth place (7.1 points of increase), with a 21.5 percent indebtedness at the end of last year; while Catalonia is in sixth position (6.3 points more in debt), with a percentage increase of 33.4 in debt in the last quarter.
Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León have increased their debt by 5.8 percent since 2013; Cantabria by 5.5 percent; Asturias by 3.9 percent; La Rioja by 3.3 percent; Balearic Islands by 3 percent; Madrid by 2.8 percent; Basque Country by 2.1 percent; Canarias by 1.9 percent and Galicia by 1.8 percent.
Of all the autonomous communities, Navarra is the only one that has decreased the percentage of debt with respect to its GDP compared to ten years ago.
If in 2013 the percentage of its indebtedness was 18.2 points of its GDP at that time, in the last quarter of 2022 the figure was 14.1 points, a reduction of 2.4 percent. In euros, Navarra owed 3,136 million in 2013, while at the end of the year it owed 3,158 million.
