MADRID, 10 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS – Michelle Ortega) –
Against the passing of time, Guns N’Roses has offered a worthy hard rock show at the Cívitas Metropolitano in Madrid. He has done it in an incomplete stadium, with some 35,000 people who have immersed themselves in the jungle of this legendary band for three and a half hours of electrifying hits.
The fourth stop of the entire American group -at least with Axl, Slash and Duff- in the Spanish capital occurs after passing through Seville in 2022 and coinciding on the night of this Friday, June 9, with the first day Real of Primavera Sound Madrid.
Despite several empty seats, there are many present tonight at the Atlético de Madrid stadium. And they are faithful rockers who, with beer in hand, are ready to rave about what’s to come, a wild show, or at least as wild as it can be when the protagonists are already in their sixties.
At 9:30 p.m., very punctual, Axl Rose takes the huge stage together with the band’s co-founders, Slash (lead guitar) and Duff McKagan (bass and backing vocals), who are reinforced by veterans Dizzy Reed (keyboards, backing vocals). , percussion), Richard Forts (guitar, backing vocals), Frank Ferrer (drums) and Melissa Reese (synthesizer, keyboards, backing vocals).
The last great rock band kicks off the party with ‘It’s So Easy’, full of strength and in an attempt to put on a show similar to their craziest years. There is a big difference, but it is similar to what there is among the public with respect to that time.
With ‘Bad Obsession’ he continues a night in which Axl Rose turns the tables into his gym and runs from one side to the other, dancing at times in that seductive way so well known in his best days.
The rest of the band is not far behind and offers the public an authentic musical spectacle, in which Slash shines especially, providing majesty. His hands are worth gold.
Along with songs from this century like ‘Hard Skool’, ‘There was a time’ or ‘Chinese Democracy’, longing and nostalgia invade the space with songs like ‘To Live
They also play the version of ‘TV Eye’ with Duff McKcagan on vocals, to give way, unexpectedly, like the entire setlist of the night, to ‘Don’t Cry’, the first of the great ballads of the group formed in Los Angeles in 1985. Among these, ‘Patience’ also stands out, towards the end of the night, or ‘Knockin’ on heaven’s door’. The best version of Bob Dylan’s hit?
But without a doubt ‘November Rain’ is the true anthem. With the vocalist on piano, the band delivers one of the best performances of the night in front of a dedicated audience that enjoys both the deepest and wildest songs.
Among the latter, of course, ‘Welcome to the jungle’ stands out, shortly after the start of the show. ‘Civil war’, with homage to Ukraine, flags through’, is also part of the evening along with other colossi such as ‘Nighttrain’ or ‘Sweet Child O’Mine’.
The latter becomes a real craze among the Guns N’Roses faithful. Introduced after a long and tremendous solo by Slash, who shows his strength in each piece of the night, it is one of the moments to remember given by the appointment in which Axl Rose, an old rocker, demonstrates that he maintains his prodigious voice of very decent shape despite everything lived.
At the end of a night without a ‘sold out’ but with an audience devoted to thirty songs performed, the American band closes with ‘Paradise City’, with the strength of all the members shining on stage.
Guns N’Roses’ meeting with the Spanish public does not end with this, as there is still their concert in Vigo next Tuesday, June 12, where they will continue with a world tour that is scheduled to conclude in Canada in October.
