BARCELONA, 23 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, referred this Thursday to Fratelli d’Italia, the party of the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni: “It does not seem comparable to other parties that are considered extreme right in Europe.”

He said this during a speech at the 39th Meeting of the Cercle d’Economia, which is being held from this Wednesday to Friday in Barcelona.

Asked by the president of the Cercle d’Economia, Jaume Guardiola, about possible alliances in Europe, he responded that the European PP is going through “many difficulties” in France, where Macron’s Liberal Party dominates, and in Italy, where Fratelli d governs. ‘Italy with Meloni at the helm.

“In Italy I would be very attentive to Meloni’s approach,” he said, and then added that the Italian leader’s approach does not seem comparable to other parties that are considered extreme right in Europe.

He recalled that the European PP approved at its congress in Romania that its “approach is not an alliance with the extreme right” as was known in the previous European legislature, according to him.

And he added: “Yes, we have seen that Mrs. Meloni, for example, voted in favor of the immigration pact. Her colleagues from other countries voted against it.”
