MADRID, 9 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Globalvia has purchased a 5.4 kilometer long highway in Barranquilla, Colombia, as part of its expansion throughout Latin America after investing in Chile and Costa Rica, as reported by the company itself this Friday.

Globalvia, the Spanish firm that manages transport infrastructure and mobility services, has achieved the purchase of the highway in Barranquilla after acquiring the entire stake in Ashmore in SF Convias, S.A..

The highway, which is part of a project under the concession regime by the district of Barranquilla, has the purpose of serving the port’s cargo traffic and contributing to the reduction of urban traffic.

The corridor, which began operating in 2014, plans to end its concession period in 2044, with the possibility of a further three-year extension.

In addition, it has two toll plazas and is subject to payments for availability until 2030, with the district of Barranquilla being the grantor.

“It represents a very important step by giving us entry into a new country and supports our strategy of continuing to explore projects in Latin America,” underlined the CEO of Globalvia, Javier Pérez Fortea.
