The PP and PSOE have shared the Bureau of the Murcia Assembly, leaving the ‘popular’ with the Presidency, the first vice-presidency and a secretary, while the Socialists will occupy the vice-presidency and the second secretary. In this way, Vox has been left without representation in this body.

Specifically, the new president of the Assembly will be Visitación Martínez, while the PP also secures the first vice presidency with Miguel Miralles. The second vice president will be Alfonso Martínez, of the PSOE.

The first secretary of the Assembly will be occupied by Mari Carmen Ruiz, from the PP, who has obtained 21 votes; and the second secretary, Virginia Lopo, of the PSOE, who has obtained 15 votes. Vox thus remains without representation at the Assembly Table.

This has been consummated this Wednesday in the constitutive session of the Murcia Assembly, which begins a new legislature, and it is the first vote after the results of the 28M elections, where predictably the ‘popular’ candidate, Fernando López Look, he needs Vox to be invested.

Visitación Martínez thus becomes the second woman to preside over the regional parliament. It should be remembered that in the IX Legislature, the Chamber was chaired by the socialist Rosa Peñalver.

The election of the president of the Regional Assembly for this XI Legislature had to be carried out in a second vote after the necessary majority was not obtained in the first one, quantified in 23 votes.

In the first ballot Visitación Martínez obtained only 21 votes, corresponding to those of his party; the PSOE presented Alfonso Martínez as a candidate, who obtained 13 votes in the first ballot, those of his party; VOX presented Alberto Garre, who only had 9 votes, and Podemos presented María Marín, who only obtained 2.

For its part, the second vote was carried out between the two candidates who had obtained the highest number of votes: Visitación Martínez, from the PP, and Alfonso Martínez, from the PSOE. In this case, the ‘popular’ has obtained 21 votes, corresponding to her party; the deputy of the PSOE Alfonso Martínez has obtained 15 votes, which would correspond to the 13 of the PSOE and the 2 of Podemos; while there have been 8 blank votes and 1 null, which would correspond to the VOX deputies.

Visitación Martínez, with a degree in Law, was the first woman to become mayor of the San Pedro del Pinatar City Council in 2011. Previously, she held various public positions such as Councilor for Personnel, General Director of Heritage of the Autonomous Community and spokesperson for the Popular Group in the City hall. In the professional field, she practiced as a lawyer between 1990 and 2000, and as director of the Legal Department from 2005 to 2011.
