The Prosecutor’s Office has asked the National Court to sentence former ETA member José Antonio López Ruiz, alias ‘Kubati’, and five other people to 5 years and 7 months in prison for organizing 120 acts of tribute to ETA prisoners between 2016. and 2020, those known as ‘ongi etorri’.

In his indictment, collected by Europa Press, prosecutor Carlos Berro asks to impose 3 years and 6 months in prison on the accused for a crime of establishing and directing a criminal organization and 2 years and 1 month in prison for a continuing crime of humiliation of the victims of terrorism and exaltation.

In addition to ‘Kubati’, the Public Prosecutor’s Office also asks that Oihana Garmendia Marin, Haymar Altuna, Oihana San Vicente Saez de Cerain, Carlos Saez de Egilaz Murgiondo and Felipe San Epifanio San Pedro be convicted.

The Prosecutor’s Office assures that “between 2016 and 2020, the so-called Kalera Kalera dynamic led by the accused was responsible for repeatedly and systematically organizing ‘ongi etorris’ and other acts of homage given to members of the terrorist group ETA at the time of his release, his return to Spain and his death”.
