THE HAGUE, Netherlands, March 4, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Affidea Group, Europe’s largest provider of advanced diagnostics, multi-specialty polyclinics and centers of excellence, announced today that it has signed a binding agreement to acquire MedEuropa Romania, a renowned cancer care provider.
MedEuropa Romania operates four medical centers in Romania, covering Constanta, Bucharest, Brasov and Oradea, and one more center will be opened in Iasi. The company is recognized for its expertise in advanced cancer care, including radiotherapy, chemotherapy and broader oncology services, all of which are integrated into Affidea’s primary diagnostic and polyclinic portfolio in Romania. The acquisition adds radiotherapy services to Affidea’s capacity in Romania, complementing the existing radiotherapy services that Affidea offers across its European presence.
Razvan Predica, National CEO of Affidea Romania and Hungary, said: “Cancer is claiming too many lives in our communities, and approximately 100,000 people in Romania are diagnosed with an oncological disease every year. This acquisition is not just about growth; also about standing shoulder to shoulder with the NHS and those affected by this relentless disease. We look forward to working with the great team at MedEuropa post-lockdown and continuing to provide value to every individual affected by cancer by increasing access to the service pathway of cancer care from diagnosis to treatment and follow-up.
Guy Blomfield, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Affidea Group, added: “At Affidea, we have experience in providing comprehensive cancer care pathways in several European countries, with a network of community clinics and dedicated centers of excellence to provide access and high-quality care to the patient communities we serve. Romania’s healthcare market is rising to the challenge of improving cancer survivorship outcomes, and Affidea’s integrated service model will play an important role in helping to improve early detection and diagnosis, as well as providing more access to radiotherapy services in community settings across Romania. Affidea and MedEuropa have an impressive reputation for high-quality patient care, and I am very confident that the integration of services will further improve outcomes for oncology patients throughout Romania.
Philippe Jacobs, President, and Silviu Savin, CEO of MedEuropa, commented: “We are proud to have created a completely new network of clinics providing high-quality patient care and treatments throughout Romania. We would like to thank our doctors and staff for their contributions over the last few years. We believe that an integrated care solution is optimal for oncology patients and therefore see the integration of MedEuropa into the greater Affidea family as an ideal path to providing the best care and outcomes to cancer patients in Romania”.
Completion of the acquisition is subject to approval by the Romanian Competition Council. Affidea Group had the advice of Rizoiu
