‘Limitless Possibilities’
After a report that said Nissan and Toyota, Japanese carmakers, had opened a virtual showroom, while the latter had created virtual workspaces, the two have joined the metaverse as the latest global corporations. The two Japanese carmakers joined their European counterparts, Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz by establishing a presence within the metaverse.
According to a Nikkei Asia Report, Nissan created a digital reality version its Tokyo gallery Nissan Crossing that can be used for vehicle launches or other events. Nissan Motor Corporation claimed that its Invisible to-Visible interface, which connects with the metaverse, has opened up “limitless possibilities for services, communications, and driving that will make it more enjoyable, convenient, and comfortable.”
Toyota, the largest carmaker in the world, has created virtual workstations to support its subsidiaries and departments. Employees can chat and participate in company meetings using avatars.
The report states that the parent company’s technical development and human resource teams already use virtual workspaces. The report also stated that plans are in place to expand this.
Another option for communication
A Toyota representative said that the Covid-19 pandemic, along with the restrictions to human movement, had inspired Toyota’s decision of launching virtual workspaces.
According to the quoted representative from the carmaker, “With more people working at home due to the coronavirus,” he stated that young employees are being offered communication options within the company.
