MADRID, 31 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco, confirmed on Tuesday that both Catalonia and Aragon “have expressed their intention to go separately” in a candidacy for the 2030 Winter Olympics, but made it clear that their wish is to continue insisting on going hand
“Here we are at a time when the two governments do not agree and have expressed their intention to go separately. After everything I have heard and the people I have heard with the responsibilities they have, I see that there are entities and political leaders of regions and municipalities who are very interested in this not happening, in that it not being abandoned,” Blanco told the media after holding the Ordinary General Assembly of the COE.
The leader explained that “what the COE is not going to do is try to present something with the rejection of the majority of the people because that would not make sense.” “We have to think that everything we do here in half a second is known in the IOC and to have the Games you have to have two things, a credible candidacy and be credible. I try that the COE, which until now is, continue to be credible, and despite the difficulties we can present a project,” he assured.
