The Italian cyclist Alessandro Covi (UAE Team Emirates) won this Saturday in the twentieth and penultimate stage of the Giro d’Italia, 168 kilometers between Belluno and Marmolada, while the Australian Jai Hindley (Bora-hansgrohe) dealt the final blow to the race.

In the absence of the individual time trial this Sunday, which will put an end to the 105th edition of the ‘Corsa Rosa’, the Australian hunted down the ‘maglia’ after striking down Carapaz in the Marmolada, the mythical summit, where the battle in favor of Hindley with 01:25 ahead of the Ecuadorian in the general classification.

The escape of the day was carried out by Covi, who accelerated the march with 50 kilometers to go to get away from the peloton and place himself in the lead. Thus, the 23-year-old Italian was able to resist the return of the Slovenian Domen Novak (Bahrain-Victorious) and achieved a spectacular victory at the end of a long breakaway.
