Between the design Show, which opens on 27 march, and the projected sales of this theme, the timeliness of this early spring is dominated by works on paper.
In 1991, the first Salon du dessin was attended by 17 exhibitors. This year, its 28th edition, organized in the prestigious setting of the palais Brongniart from 27 march to 1 April, a total of 39 galleries from different countries. A poster of the austrian gallery Wienerroither & Kohlbacher, an important drawing by Egon Schiele (1890-1918), signed and dated 1911 : Woman standing covering his face with his two hands. Price : 1.9 million euros. Next to this figure, tormented will be exposed to a design that radiates sensuality, a woman half-naked, crayonnée to 1914-1915 by Gustav Klimt (1862-1918), a line, fast and fluid : Woman half naked tilted to the right. Next to contemporary, let us announce the exhibition devoted to the painter Jean-Baptiste Sécheret (born in 1957) by the galerie Jacques Elbaz. auction at the Hotel Drouot
at the same time the Salon du dessin, on a lot of sales on this theme will take place from 27 to 29 march, including a dozen houses officiant at the Hotel Drouot. Among the unpublished works is a medallion of Jean Clouet (circa 1480-1541), painter at the court of France, and portrait photographer dedicated to François I from 1515 to 1539. Any small format (2.5 cm diameter), this miniature, painted on vellum, gouache heightened with gold, renders the traits of Louis of Lorraine, count of Vaudémont (1500-1528). Announced between 20 000 and 30 000 euros, it will be put to auction on the 28th at Mirabaud Mercier.
Another rediscovery, a wide set of thirty drawings by Jean-Jacques de Boissieu (1736-1810) will be proposed at Aguttes the 28. Dubbed in his time the “Rembrandt French”, the artist, who is allergic to the varnish employed in painting, and has left primarily etchings and drawings, such as the meticulous self-portrait, graphite and pastel, estimated at between 10 000 and 12 000 euros.
At Ader, 29 march, will be dispersed three drawings from the fantastic bestiary is composed from 1832 to 1887 by Aloys Zötl (1803-1887), dyer austrian, colourist of genius, as seen by André Breton as a precursor of surrealism. From the sale of the workshop of Zötl, conducted in 1955 at Drouot by Me Maurice Rheims, these watercolours are an estimated 40 000 to 80 000 euros.
