Those from ‘Cholo’ beat Real (1-2) with a great second half

Atlético de Madrid defeated Real Sociedad (1-2) this Sunday in the last day of LaLiga Santander, surpassed in the first half by some Basques again without a hit, but with a good reaction from the restart to finish third.

Diego Pablo Simeone’s team fulfilled their last objective, closing the League podium, an irregular season in which they were unable to defend the title. La Real, with nothing at stake, secure sixth in the table, was better in the first half, but the goals came in the second and were more red-and-white.

The Basques entered the Reale Arena well. Sorloth was close to the goal and so was Rafinha, but between Oblak and the wood they made it 0-0. In a steal from Isak to Savic, Rafinha had an even clearer one. Atlético came out with more intention in the second half and showed it in the first minute, with three chances in a row. Cunha, the crossbar, Del Paul and Griezmann tested Remiro before the Argentine shot the 0-1 in the 51st minute.

Atlético looked for it and found it, with a Real appealing to the rearmament in the changes. While Imanol Alguacil’s team adjusted lines, Correa slipped through the local defense to make it 0-2. Griezmann was able to sentence, while Januzaj pulled on the ‘txuri-urdin’ pride and had the option of closing the gap.

With the goal accomplished, the ‘Cholo’ team said goodbye to the course with a good taste in their mouths, although they had a last minute to suffer after Guridi cut back with 1-2 in 93. In unified time, Sevilla prevailed ( 1-0) to Athletic, but it was not enough to beat the Madrid team. Meanwhile, the Real will play the Europa League, in a season of merit.
