Barça forgets the Champions at the expense of Real Madrid
The culés will seek their third consecutive Cup after thrashing the meringues in the second semifinal
ALCORCÓN (MADRID), May 25. (EUROPE PRESS) –
FC Barcelona turned the page very quickly after the painful defeat in the Champions League final and this Wednesday unceremoniously beat Real Madrid (4-0) in the second semi-final of the Copa de la Reina, played at the Santo stadium Sunday (Alcorcón), where Barça’s dominance was extended in the sixth ‘Clásico’ of the season.
Half a dozen games against the eternal rival and half a dozen victories for a Barça that soon forgot the post-Turin depression. Jonatan Giráldez’s players had no problem displaying their talent and certifying a victory that confirmed all predictions. After 3 minutes, the Blaugrana team had already warned twice.
First it was Mariona Caldentey -who crashed it into the post after a quarter of an hour- and a minute later it was Oshoala’s turn, who also ran into the woodwork before Misa grazed the ball. The Real Madrid goalkeeper -their best player- was key to avoiding a major destruction in the first half.
However, before reaching 20 minutes, the first goal of the night came in Alcorcón. Lieke Martens finished off an excellent cross from Mariona Caldentey, who entered at the far post. Aitana Bonmatí was the next to try her luck in what was a real Barcelona monologue.
Real Madrid’s first shot was the work of Athenea, half an hour later, and Sandra Paños didn’t even have to get her gloves dirty to stop it. Alberto Toril’s men withstood the downpour but after the break they couldn’t prevent their rival from breaking out. Two minutes into the locker room, it was 2-0 after a play by Oshoala that Aitana Bonmatí finished off with great calm.
The culé party was extended by Mariona with a high level header in a corner that was exquisite from Martens; and Oshoala did not want to leave the field without registering her name on the list of scorers. The Nigerian player did not miss a very clear hand in hand that served to fasten the round work of Barça.
A 4-0 without discussion -that forgets Olympique de Lyon- and that serves to extend their power in national women’s football while waiting to fight this Sunday (11:30 am) -against Sporting de Huelva- for what would be their third Consecutive Queen’s Cup, the ninth in its history.
