BRUSELAS, 20 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Justice Commissioner, Didier Reynders, has “underlined” this Thursday to the President of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, the “importance” of complying with 25% of teaching hours in Spanish in Catalan schools as ruled by the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC), European sources have informed Europa Press.

“We discussed the importance of guaranteeing the full application of judicial rulings and compliance with national security regulations with European Union legislation,” Reynders wrote in a message on Twitter published along with several images of the meeting between the two.

Although the former Belgian minister does not specify the details of that conversation in his statement, European sources consulted by Europa Press have framed the reference to compliance with the sentences to that issued by the TSJC on the use of Spanish in classes in Catalonia.

The Catalan president explained the problems that occur with the use of languages ??and pointed out that the situation is still pending until the Constitutional Court resolves the appeals presented by the Partido Popular and Ciudadanos.

At the meeting, the first time that a Commissioner of the Community Executive receives a President of Catalonia in Brussels since Artur Mas, both have had the opportunity to review the conclusions of the community services in the annual report on the rule of law, which he already explained Reynders himself during his recent visit to Madrid during a parliamentary session in Congress.

Despite the message published by Reynders, his spokesman has avoided confirming the details of the discussion on the non-compliance by the Generalitat with the ruling that sets the percentages in the use of languages ??in education, but he has detailed that they dealt with the issue of the “protection of personal data and privacy”.

In this sense, the community spokesman explained and reiterated the Commission’s position of “strongly” condemning all “illegal use of interpersonal communications, if confirmed”.

Aragonès, for his part, has told him that all the actions that have been carried out on this issue and the new regulations approved on Catalan are made in accordance with the legislation, he has recalled that the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) declared the impossibility of executing the 25% sentence, and explained the Catalan school model.

After the ruling of 25%, the Parliament approved a new law on the use of languages ??in schools and the Government a decree law that established the non-application of percentages of languages ??in education.

Given this new regulation, the TSJC declared the impossibility of executing the 25% ruling and now the Constitutional Court (TC) must rule on this issue.

On Pegasus, Aragonès has transferred to Reynders his “concern” about how the central government is managing the espionage case against independence leaders, in which the president himself was one of those affected.
