The European Commission announced this Wednesday the creation of a specialized energy working group to support the EU Energy Platform and implement the objectives of the REPower EU plan, which seeks to cut Russia’s dependence on fossil fuels in 2030 .

The purpose of this new working group will be to help EU Member States and neighboring countries to access alternative energy supply at affordable prices in the coming years, a job that it will carry out with the EU Energy Platform.

The working group will begin its work on June 1 to address the objectives of the REPower EU plan announced this May and will focus on demand aggregation, storage coordination and energy supply negotiation.

The task force consists of three units made up of Director General Matthew Baldwin, Director General for Energy Ditte Juul Jorgensen, and under the political oversight of Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson and will focus on global demand and negotiations. relations, the relations of the Member States with neighboring countries and international relations.
