The First Vice President of the Government and Minister of the Economy, Nadia Calviño, assured today that it was not necessary to “announce” to United We Can the increase in defense spending because the decision to increase this item had already been made.

This was stated in an interview in La Sexta, collected by Europa Press, when asked if United We Can was informed during the negotiation that defense spending in the 2023 General Budgets was going to be increased by 25.8 percent. .

“What I am trying to convey is that this is not an issue that needs to be announced,” argued Nadia Calviño, who argued that this decision “has already been explained by the president, it has been explained in public, it is a commitment and a decision that It was taken and clear and it’s the right one right now.”

In this sense, he pointed out that it is necessary to strengthen the capacity to confront Putin and has emphasized the “very disturbing” images of the demonstrations and shows of force in Moscow and the upsurge in fighting in part of the territory from Ukraine.
