He accuses the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor of trying to “destroy” his work as Valencian president
MADRID, 23 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The former president of the Generalitat Valenciana Francisco Camps has assured this Monday, before being tried in the National Court for the alleged irregularities in the award of a contract to Orange Market, one of the companies of the ‘Gürtel’, that it did not take ” a single euro in his pocket” for the performances of the plot.
In statements to the media upon his arrival at the headquarters of the National Court in San Fernando de Henares, Camps has shown his intention to return to the political front line once what he considers a “very long nightmare” orchestrated by the Prosecutor’s Office ends. whom he has accused of trying to “destroy” his work as regional president.
In this trial, the Public Ministry asks to impose two years and six months in prison on Camps as the author of a crime of prevarication and another of fraud against the administration, considering that he actively participated in directing the Fitur 2009 contract in favor of Orange Market.
“We are talking about 70 minor contracts. Here no one of the people who are being tried has taken a single euro in their pocket. There is no embezzlement, unjust enrichment or money for the PP. They are contracts that the Generalitat’s Attorney already said in its moment that they were well done”, he maintained.
In this context, Camps has stressed that he was already tried for these events “in the cause of the suits.” “I do not know what my government colleagues are doing or what I am doing here today in this new trial. I trust Justice and, like the other nine cases, that it ends in acquittal,” he added.
The former regional president has made it clear that “absolutely nothing” irregularly happened around his figure. “Neither with Formula 1, nor with the visit of the Pope, nor with the construction of the circuit nor with the gifts of suits. It is a question of prehistory. Remember that this is judged, sentenced and closed forever”, he has had an impact.
Thus, Camps has insisted that he has always told “the truth” and has pointed to another person allegedly responsible for his persecution: the Valencian president Ximo Puig. In his opinion, if he managed to reach the Generalitat it was because he went after him “in a hysterical and brutal way.”
“It would be a good day for them to ask him if he is going to show the face of what is appearing in the cause of Puig in Valencia with the hypothetical lack of transparency of the financing of the PSOE, of his personal campaign and of the things that have happened “, he pointed out.
On the other hand, Camps has also criticized the “spurious” pact of some of the defendants with the Prosecutor’s Office before the start of the oral hearing. “Conformities do not have any type of probative value. The Prosecutor’s Office established that it would not accept the agreement that attacked another defendant as long as no other evidence was presented,” she asserted.
In this line, the former Valencian president has affirmed that both the conformities and the writings of acknowledgment of facts “are absurd stories and that they do not have any type of support.” “They are nonsense, if it were not a tragedy because here I am. It is a sum of absurdities, of commonplaces and issues that have no value from the documentary point of view,” he added.
All in all, Camps has shown his “absolute calm” that the judges are not going to “pay attention to these conformities” which, from his point of view, only have media “value”.
