MADRID, 2 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The spokesman for United We Can in Congress, Pablo Echenique, affirmed this Wednesday that the deputy Miguel Ángel Bustamante has acted “consistently”, by presenting his resignation from the seat after being denounced by his wife for alleged mistreatment.
“He has acted coherently and has resigned. I think that with that everything is said,” he said in statements to the media in the corridors of Congress.
Bustamante, who is a member of IU, announced last Monday through social networks that he was leaving his deputy act after being denounced for sexist violence, assuring that he was “innocent” and that all the accusations against him were “false”. He also explained that he was resigning from his seat in compliance with what the statutes of his formation dictate.
With his resignation, the Electoral Board will proceed to issue the credential as a parliamentarian to the next position in the candidacy of United We Can for that constituency, which in this case will correspond to Ezequiel García Nieto, who is a member of Podemos, and in case of declining to collect the seat the next one is Raquel Mercedes, also from the purple formation.
