from 1 April, the real estate agents will be subject to a continuing education obligation that they must meet in order to renew their professional card, said a decree published in the official Journal (OJ) on 18 February.

The decree dated 18 February, which follows from the law Alur of 24 march 2014, sets out a period of mandatory continuing professional training “14 hours per year or 42 hours over the course of three consecutive years of year” for real estate agents.

The real estate agents, holders of a professional card will not be able to see it renewed if they do not justify to have fulfilled this obligation, says the text.

This obligation, which comes into force from the 1st of April, must ensure “the update and development of the knowledge and skills necessary for the exercise” of their profession.

At least two hours on ethics

It is aimed at real estate professionals who ensure the management of an establishment, a branch, an agency, or an office”. Are also involved, the people “employed or not authorised by the holder of the professional card in negotiating, mediating, or engaging for the account of the latter”.

The activities have been validated in respect of the obligation of continuing education related to the fields of legal, economic, business, ethics, as well as in the technical fields relating to the construction, housing, urban planning, energy transition”.

And over the course of three consecutive years of year, this continuing education must include “at least two hours on ethics”.
