MADRID, 26 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Federation of Associations and Official Automotive Agents (Fagenauto) has denounced that the Stellantis group issued a notice a year ago that it was canceling the contracts with its agents and official services of distribution and after-sales networks and has not yet presented the drafts of the future contracts or what the new selection criteria will be, undermining the business situation for its associated firms.
In a statement, the federation has indicated that 12 of the 24 months with which the legislation stipulates that notice must be given have already been exhausted, and given the inconcretion by Stellantis of what the new relationship framework with its networks will be, the Official agents and services cannot make the right decisions to update their future strategies.
However, the companies associated with Stellantis have to continue making the investments required by the brand “without any guarantee that they will be able to make them profitable,” according to Fagenauto.
For this reason, from the federation they have requested the automobile group that the drafts of the new contracts and selection criteria be provided urgently or, failing that, a new notice of 24 months be given from the time the contracts are presented for your study.
In the opinion of the business organization that represents the interests of the vast majority of Spanish official agents and services, the current review by the European authorities of the regulation that regulates competition in the European vehicle distribution sector does not justify the Stellantis strategy.
The executive secretary of Fagenauto, César Sanz, has pointed out that other brands of other automobile groups have also decided to change their distribution model, hiding behind the revision of the European regulation or not, but their advance notice of cancellation of contracts has been accompanied by the new proposals of the future of these brands, so that the affected businessmen are having enough time to analyze whether they are interesting or not.
“In the case of Stellantis, the lack of information is preventing the affected agents and services from making the right decisions to guarantee their business future,” he added.
