MADRID, 19 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has focused the “cordial and productive” meeting that he held this Wednesday with the president of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, on inflation, the energy crisis and European funds

This has been stated by Feijóo in a message on Twitter, collected by Europa Press, along with a photo of the two after the meeting requested by the Galician politician in Brussels, which is part of the usual contacts that the head of the Community Executive maintains with other members who share the same political family, the European People’s Party (EPP).

On Thursday, Feijóo will attend the EPP leaders’ summit, which is traditionally held in the hours before the European Council, and in that framework he will coincide with other prominent ‘popular’ figures, such as the president of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, and the recently appointed minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Antonio Tajani.

The EPP summit will also be attended by some of the leaders who will later participate in the European Council, including the prime ministers of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and Croatia, Andrej Plenkovic.

The European summit will be marked by Von der Leyen’s latest proposals to intervene in the energy market in the face of high gas and electricity prices, including a temporary mechanism to cap the price of gas purchases as they have requested fifteen countries, including Spain.
