The leader of the PP also disfigures Sánchez who reserves 15,000 million for electoral campaign ads “without any control”
MADRID, 26 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, has censured this Wednesday that Pedro Sánchez and his ministers raise their salaries in the General State Budget (PGE) project when it is the “most expensive democracy” government. The Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, has blamed the PP for falling into this criticism, which she sees as belonging to the “far right”, and has stressed that the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and the mayor of the capital, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, earn 12,000 and 18,000 euros more than the Prime Minister.
“They are the most expensive government in democracy. As if that were not enough, they raise their salaries and increase senior management spending by 144 million euros, that is, 37% more than what they found in 2018 “, Gamarra snapped at the head of the Treasury in the debate on the total amendments to the General State Budgets (PGE) that is being held in the plenary session of Congress.
In her turn, Minister Montero responded to Gamarra that “distrust is bad business.” “The Democrats of this country cannot feed the discourse of politicians’ salaries and the privileges of politicians. Leave that to the extreme right, which only wants those who are rich from birth to govern,” she emphasized.
According to Montero, the PP “doesn’t like to talk about politicians’ salaries” and “it’s not pretty” because it is a party that “governs in many places” and, therefore, they can compare the salaries of one and other positions.
“Do you want us to compare salaries? You see, Mrs. Ayuso and Mr. Martínez Almeida, for not going too far from this perimeter, earn more than the President of the Government. Ayuso earns 12,000 euros more a year than the President of the Government “, he emphasized. The chief executive will earn a total of 90,010 euros per year next year.
Given the commotion caused in the Lower House, Montero said that he was then going to talk about the mayor of Madrid, who charges “18,000 euros more than the Prime Minister.” “Are they going to return that money to the public coffers due to the increase in inflation?”, he asked Gamarra.
In addition, Montero recalled that in the General State Administration “there is one high position for every 62,000 inhabitants”, while in Castilla y León it is “one high position for every 32,000 inhabitants, twice as much”. In the case of Andalusia, he continued, there is a senior position “for every 57,000 inhabitants.”
“Your Honor, who has the highest positions per inhabitant or do we not measure it per inhabitant?” Asked the Minister of Finance, to emphasize that when the PP governs “it has a greater volume of high positions.”
Moreover, he stressed that when Juanma Moreno arrived in Andalusia at the San Telmo Palace, he promised to “reduce the number of senior officials” but “today he has more senior positions than those that Susana Díaz had when she left power.” “Therefore, they cannot criticize the austerity with which this country moves,” she has proclaimed.
Montero has also reproached Gamarra for his criticism of the Government for the spending collected by the PGE and for speaking of “waste”, as if the Government were going to live “above its means”. “Do you know when the Community of Madrid has increased spending? Mrs. Gamarra, you have not read it. 11%,” he declared, provoking laughter from the socialist caucus.
In his speech, Gamarra also criticized the fact that the Government reserves “nothing more and nothing less than 15,391 million euros outside the Budgets to continue making announcements between now and the next campaigns”.
“That yes, without any type of control, without any type of limit and no restriction”, has affirmed the leader of the PP, who has been convinced that these announcements are going to be made “Tuesday after Tuesday” after the Council of Ministers until the elections. “Hence, Sánchez’s political obsession with collection,” she asserted.
After pointing out that the public accounts are born “flawed” after criticism from national and international organizations and lead to an economic recession, Gamarra has stated that they only respond to the “particular interest” of Pedro Sánchez and his need for “political survival”.
The also spokeswoman for the Popular Group in Congress, who has said that a “serious” government would have withdrawn them, has stated that Sánchez “buys time” and does so with “the money of those who do not make ends meet.” “They are a lifesaver that we Spaniards of today and future generations will pay for. They pay their mortgages with everyone’s money and with the right to equality of Spaniards.”
Gamarra and Montero have also crossed harsh reproaches for the execution of European funds. The ‘number two’ of Alberto Núñez Feijóo has ensured that they do not reach the real economy and has added that there is no “transparency” or “co-governance” with the CCCAA.
In addition, he has emphasized the “resounding failure” of the “PERTE of the electric vehicle” and has said that “in a serious country the competent minister would have been dismissed.” In his opinion, the Government has shown that it is “incapable” of executing that money that comes from Europe.
On the contrary, the Minister of Finance has responded that Spain is the country “most advanced in the execution of funds” as, as highlighted, has been recognized by the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen.
At this point, it has made the PP ugly that Alberto Núñez Feijóo goes to Europe to “speak badly” of Spain and has blamed Gamarra for going up to the rostrum to say that Spain is the “most backward” country with funds without giving a data. He has added that Spain is going to request the third disbursement of funds, something that other countries have not yet done.
The Minister of Finance has highlighted the “leadership” of Pedro Sánchez in Europe, in matters such as the Iberian exception, and has said that this “tremendously bothers” the Popular Party. “The ideological blindness by the PP that leads it to criticize the proposals of the Government of Spain in energy matters that are setting the tone in the EU,” Montero asserted.
At this point, he has recommended Feijóo not to go to Brussels “a few minutes before” the President of the Government because “it is pathetic”, since “he does not know what to say” and “later the president of the European Commission agrees with Mr Sanchez”. “Therefore, he stammers because he doesn’t know exactly what to say,” exclaimed Montero.
