MADRID, 24 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Greek Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced on Monday that it will extend until June 30 the directive that prohibits the passage of Russian aircraft in the national airspace of Greece due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Likewise, it has indicated that the closure of Ukrainian airspace and the prohibition of the passage of civil aircraft in the airspace of Moldova and Belarus will remain in force, due to the high risk in these areas, according to the Greek news portal NewsIt.
A total of 18 European countries closed their airspace to Russian aircraft in retaliation for the Russian invasion of Ukraine shortly after the announcement made by Russian President Vladimir Putin, including great powers such as Germany, Italy and France.
Belgium, Iceland, Denmark, Luxembourg, Finland, Ireland, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Romania, Austria, Poland and Spain equally closed their airspace, joining the UK as such.
