If you just have 18 years old, you do not have an explicit application to undertake for your first registration on the electoral lists. All those who reach 18 years of age between 1 march 2016 and 28 February 2017, are automatically included on the lists. The address used is the one that was shown in the census of military or citizen carried out when you were 16 years old. If you have moved since this date, you will need to undertake the registration process.

For never enrolled or after a move

It will be the same, if older, you have never registered or if you have moved since your previous registration. You have until December 31 to do so. You can’t-you enter that in a single commune, that of your home, or one in which you pay local taxes for at least five years, for example in the title of your secondary residence. If you reside abroad, you can register with your municipality of birth, your last address in France, the one where you pay local taxes for five years, but also at the city hall which are inscribed with your ascendants, your spouse, or your children. You will be asked for the following documents : an identity card valid or expired for less than one year (national identity card, passport, driving licence..), proof of residence of less than three months (rent receipt, electricity bill or telephone…), or a document proving your registration at the role of local taxes to the municipality (tax notice of property tax or housing, for example).

You can file yourself at the town hall on your request, accompanied by the required documents, send it by mail or entrust a third party to do so on your behalf, awarding him a power of attorney on a plain paper. In all cases, you will need to attach the form n° 12669*01 application for registration on the electoral roll, available in town hall or on the website Service-public.fr.
