Announces that next week new foreign investments linked to the Perte VEC will be announced

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, has indicated this Wednesday that there is a possibility that new gigafactories will arrive in Spain within the framework of the Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation (Perte) for the electric and connected vehicle, at style of the battery plant that the Volkswagen Group will install in Sagunto (Valencia).
“We are going to receive a lot of foreign investment. They will be known next week, when we give some more details about the projects,” Maroto advanced in his speech at an informative meeting organized by ‘El Economista’.
In this sense, the head of the Industry portfolio has been cautious and has not given more details about the projects that have been presented to the electric vehicle Perte because the call ends on June 3.
Regarding the possibility of new gigafactories linked to the automotive sector being installed in Spain, Maroto clarified that “some projects may be a little fair for this call”, although he stressed that the Government’s commitment to the sector is long-term term and that it has committed itself “to all manufacturers” to continue supporting it.
“We have to be very satisfied that the Spanish and international automobile industry has found in Spain a place of trust in which to invest”, highlighted the minister, who also opined that “Spain is going to make a qualitative leap in the automotive industry “.
