Pixelverse, a web3 gaming ecosystem, has announced that it will be adding the MEW character from the Solana-based meme coin to its real-time game roster. This move is expected to bring in a new audience within the Telegram ecosystem, where the Pixelverse games are currently operating.

MEW, which is a character and token based on cats, was launched during the Solana meme coin craze in March. The token, known as “cat in a dogs world,” saw its market capitalization peak at nearly $700 million in early April, according to CoinGecko data.

Kori Leon, the chief operating officer of PixelVerse, shared in a Telegram message to CoinDesk, “Pixelverse isn’t just about creating a game; we’re building a retail-friendly brand that captures audience attention and onboards millions to our product lines. The MEW partnership is possible as Pixelverse aims to integrate other IPs into their Pixel Universe.”

Players on Pixelverse can earn token rewards for their victories with in-game robots or characters, and the game currently boasts an estimated 35 million active players. Other notable characters on Pixelverse include the doge character from the popular dogecoin (DOGE) meme coin.

This collaboration between MEW and Pixelverse is an exciting development for fans of the Solana ecosystem, as it brings together two popular entities in the crypto space. The addition of MEW to the Pixelverse game roster is expected to further enhance the gaming experience for players and potentially attract more users to the platform.

It is worth noting that CoinDesk, the media outlet that reported on this partnership, follows a strict set of editorial policies to ensure journalistic integrity. In November 2023, CoinDesk was acquired by the Bullish group, which is majority-owned by Block.one, a company with interests in various blockchain and digital asset businesses.
