MADRID, 22 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Russian Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov said on Sunday that the sanctions imposed on Russia are creating opportunities for several Asian nations, including Thailand, to enter the Russian market.
“In all such situations, (sanctions) are a problem on the one hand, but on the other it offers opportunities, including for the Thai economy, opportunities to enter the Russian market and fill the niches that had been left vacant,” Reshetnikov has claimed, as reported by the TASS news agency.
Thus, he stressed that “it is also an opportunity for Russian companies, which are actively seeking new markets for their products.”
“Sanctions have been imposed on more than 10,000 Russian people and companies, affecting many economic sectors and going beyond internationally accepted borders,” he added.
In his opinion, Russia “has withstood the pressure of sanctions”, the country’s financial markets “have stabilized” and the ruble “has strengthened”.
“Our inflation is coming down, and we have launched processes of structural reforms in the economy, including reorientation from Western markets to the East, mainly towards Asian markets,” Reshetnikov said.
