15% falls on the stock market
MADRID, 25 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Nordex, the German manufacturer of wind turbines controlled 34% by Acciona, has revised its forecasts downwards, after identifying a negative impact from the war in Ukraine that will mean losing around 200 million euros in sales for this year 2022 .
Thus, compared to the range of between 5,400 and 6,000 million euros in sales forecast at the beginning of the year, the company has limited its new target to between 5,200 and 5,700 million, mainly affected by the consequences of the war.
“Due to these numerous and unexpected upheavals, 2022 will be much more difficult than we originally expected. The impact of the Ukraine war and lockdowns in China on the global economy and supply chains are affecting the wind industry and also weighing on the development of our sales and margins”, assured its CEO, José Luis Blanco.
In this way, in addition to the invasion of Ukraine, Nordex is being affected by the disruptions in the supply chain that began in China, as well as by the additional costs caused by the cybersecurity incident that it suffered last March.
As a consequence of this downward update of the forecasts, the company is starring this Wednesday in one of its worst sessions on the stock market, with falls that exceed 15%, returning to levels of more than a year and a half ago, with a price of 10 .62 euros.
However, Blanco has conveyed a message of optimism, hoping that the global drive for renewable energy, with increasingly ambitious goals by governments around the world, will accelerate demand for onshore wind power in the medium term.
