The wave of COVID-19 that North Korea is facing is “being controlled and improving,” the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of North Korea (PTK) reported on Sunday.

“(PTK) made a positive assessment of the pandemic situation that is being controlled and improved across the country and discussed the issues of continuously stabilizing and improving the overall anti-epidemic situation,” the Party Central Committee said. according to the Korean Central News Agency KCNA.

In the last 24 hours, the North Korean health authorities have registered nearly 90,000 cases, thus reaching 3,450,000 positives since the wave began on May 12.

North Korea, which has a population of 25 million, also has 186,110 people under medical treatment throughout the country, according to KCNA.

On May 15, the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, declared a state of emergency and mobilized troops to try to contain the spread of what the State describes as “fever”.
